Utah Valley Children’s Choir coming to McKinleyville

The Utah Valley Children’s Concert choir will be touring the Northwestern portions of the United States for their 2013 summer tour and will include a stop in McKinleyville on Friday, June 28.
The choir is under the direction of Suanne Bowcut and Ryan Eggett, and assisted by Carl Bowcut. The 180-member group has spent the year preparing musically and financially to share their talents with people of the area.
Children ranging in age from 9 to 18 are presenting sacred music with narration in a program titled “From Cumorah’s Hill,” a cantata by Steven Kapp Perry, along with other selected music.
This touring group brings together the top choir from the five-choir academy participating in the Utah Valley Children’s Choir music education program. The children in the choir are placed by audition and have made a serious time and energy commitment to learn and produce quality music that invites the Spirit of the Lord. Most children in the touring choir have been singing for at least six years in the program, with some as long as sixteen. The choir has recorded fourteen recordings including nine CDs, all available through the choir and Deseret Book.
They recently completed their latest CD titled, “A Blessing of Duty and Love: Songs about Service”, a compilation of sacred hymns sharing their faith in Jesus Christ.
They have toured most of the United States, Canada, Mexico, and England over the last seventeen summers. This year’s tour will include a free concert to be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 28, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, located at 1660 Heartwood Drive (off Central Avenue) in McKinleyville. Everyone is welcome to attend!
