SHERIFF’S LOG: Meth & Violence in Mack Town

Thursday, July 25

11:24 a.m. – Over on Columbus Avenue, a man slapped his wife in the face after she slapped him in the face.

9:51 p.m. – In the 1300 block of Forson Road, deputies arrested Erick Carrera and booked him into the county jail on suspicion of spousal battery after he allegedly  grabbed and twisted his wife’s arm.

Saturday, July 28

6:31 p.m. – Over on Manzanita Road in the Heartwood Subdivision, someone drilled a hole in a gas cap in an effort to siphon the tank. It didn’t work.

Sunday, July 29

6 a.m. – Two days prior, Jason Balke allegedly assaulted  and physically injured his girlfriend. Deputies obtained an arrest warrant and took Mr. Balke into custody at the McKinleyville Shopping Center. Upon searching Balke, deputies found a syringe and methamphetamine. Mr. Balke was booked into the county jail on the warrant and on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

8:08 p.m. – A home in the 900 block of Daisy Place was burglarized while the residents were gone.

Tuesday, July 30

9 a.m. – A shed was broken into at Beau Pre Golf Course in McKinleyville.

Wednesday, July 31

12:54 p.m. – The Sheriff’s Office received several calls that a man and a woman were arguing in the 3000 block of McKinleyville Avenue. Tyler Goodwin, the male half of the dysfunctional couple, was allegedly pulling the woman down the street against her will. Deputies were sent to the scene. When Mr/ Goodwin saw the deputies, and ran and hid, unsuccessfully. He was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on suspicion of violating probation, giving false identification to a police officer and resisting arrest.

6:18 p.m. – Deputies pulled over Heidi Schubert near McKinleyville Avenue and Murray Road for some sort of alleged traffic violation. She ended up being booked in the county jail on a warrant alleging she was an unlicensed driver, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana while driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamine.

8:17 p.m. – Over on Springer Street, deputies arrested Brian Hermes on suspicion of spousal battery.
