Friday, May 24
4:09 p.m. – Someone entered a house on the 1200 block of Winchester Avenue. Guns, a compound bow and cash were stolen. There was no sign of forced entry. It’s possible that the thief or thieves found a hidden key and used it to enter the residence.
Saturday, May 25
3:18 a.m. – Deputies responded to the 2200 block of Terra Vista Place, where Robert Martensen had allegedly stomped on his girlfriend’s hand. He was not there when deputies arrived. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
12:31 p.m. – Deputies investigated a report of a juvenile being left unattended at a residence on Reasor Road.
5:24 p.m. – On the 2500 block of McKinleyville Avenue, two eight-year-old girls went to retrieve their basketball from a neighbor’s yard when they were approached by a man on a blue bicycle who asked them if they wanted a ride. When they declined, the man said “If you don’t come with me I’ll just kidnap you.” The creep then grabbed the back of the shirt of one of the girls. They screamed, got away and ran home. The suspect is described as being in his late 40s or early 50s. He has long gray hair in a pony tail, a scruffy beard and blue eyes. He was wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, blue shoes and black gloves. The bicycle he was riding is blue and has a back seat.
6:45 p.m. – Alfredo Canez was found face down in front of the McDonald’s. After he was roused by deputies, he admitted to drinking an entire bottle of whiskey two hours before. He was booked into the county jail for allegedly violating the terms of his probation.
10:40 p.m. – Deputies received a call from a residence on Luffenholtz Road in the Westhaven area. A woman was trying to get into a house that wasn’t hers. Deputies arrived and found Katrina Flowers. She told deputies she was looking for help because she had wrecked her car. She reportedly told deputies that she had been drinking and driving. She was handed over the California Highway Patrol.
Sunday, May 26
1:16 p.m. – Justin Tharpe, who is on parole, allegedly entered his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend’s trailer in Orick and assaulted her. A warrant was issued for his arrest on suspicion of vandalism, trespassing and inflicting corporal injury on an ex-spouse.
4:45 p.m. – Someone broke into a travel trailer parked at a residence on Letz Road and slept inside.
5:23 p.m. – Someone parked a vehicle near the Hammond Bridge in McKinleyville. When the person returned, the window was smashed out and items stolen.
10:28 p.m. – Deputies responded to reported domestic violence on the 1100 block of Patrick’s Point Drive. Both parties were uncooperative. There was no visible injuries to either of them.
Monday, May 27
10:03 a.m. – Jason Eben started drinking vodka at about 9 a.m. Within an hour he had consumed two pints and was wondering around the McKinleyville Shopping Center. Deputies were summoned. Mr. Eben was arrested and booked into the county jail on suspicion of public intoxication.
1:25 p.m. – At the McKinleyville Ace Hardware, a big fat marijuana bud, weighing in at 3.4 grams, was found. It was turned over to the Sheriff’s Office for safe keeping.
