Come by the McKinleyville Senior Center this Saturday, June 1, after the big parade. Enjoy the festivities at Pierson Park.
The center will be open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. We will be offering coffee for 25 cents a cup and nachos (with the works) for $4. We will also be holding a Bake Sale (think Grandma’s baking), an indoor yard sale, a jewelry sale and the boutique will be open. Saturday will also be a great day to drop off those pesky pennies you have been saving; so much to do that day as well as a great time to see old friends.
For those of you who are not familiar with the center, this would be a great time to check us out. The Centerline (monthly newsletter) will be available. It has our monthly calendar of events, groups and classes.
Pick up the Centerline to see what mini meals are being offered Thursdays in June.
Mini meals cost between $2 and $3. It is a painless way to ease into the center, meet new people and enjoy your lunch.
The center collects box tops for education. We have a volunteer who sorts, clips and delivers them to the local schools. They are a great way to help the local schools get much needed playground equipment. Just drop them in the can and we will take care of getting them to the schools.
Just in case you didn’t know, the center is a non-profit organization open to everyone 50+ years old. We are solely supported by donations and fund raising activities.
Pony Express is one of our largest fund raisers each year. Money we make during Pony Express is used to pay our expenses. We have one half-time paid employee. All of our group leaders and desk hostesses are volunteers. It is a wonderful group of very active people who enjoy life.
Thank you to everyone who brought medical supplies. We are able to help those who need medical equipment without them having the expense of having to purchase items they will only need for a short period of time. Our closet overflowith.
