Dolores E. Taylor
Dolores E. Taylor Dolores Taylor passed away in Eureka on June 4, 2013, at the age of 88. Dolores was a descendant of the Norton Family of Dow’s Prairie.
She lived most of her life on the same ranch where she was born. Dolores was a nurse, first working at the Humboldt County Hospital and later at General Hospital in Eureka. Besides nursing she was an active volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Food for People, Mad River Lioness and the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce. She had a passion for helping people in need.
She was a past Grand Marshall for Pony Express Days in McKinleyville. She loved and cared for many pets during her lifetime. She and her husband enjoyed their camper – traveling with their grandchildren or just spending nights at the beach.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Homer Taylor, her parents Verda Andersen, Leland Elwood and Viggo Andersen (step-father), her daughter Elizabeth Reinhard, her sister Madalyn Johnson, her brother Floyd Elwood and her sister-in-law Jean Andersen.
She is survived by her son, John Taylor and his wife Diane, son-in-law Joel Reinhard (and Marilyn), brother James Andersen (and Vergie), brother-in-law Wayne Johnson and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her family in California, her husband had a large extended family in the Utah and Idaho areas. Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 10 at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, 1757 J St., Arcata. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice . Arrangements are under the direction of Paul’s Chapel, Arcata.
