Welcome to 2013. The McKinleyville Senior Center is back to its regular schedule and people are returning to enjoy the groups and classes offered here. Stop by and pick up a Centerline and calendar of monthly events to see what is happening.
Come by and check out of varied selection of books and puzzles. They are only 10 cents each. Either is a great way to spend a cold, wet evening at home.
Thank you to all who donated to the McKinleyville Senior Center this past year. Some of our corporate donations came from Humboldt Sanitation, JLF Construction, Alves Inc, Micky’s Quality Cars and Dr. Mellon DDS. Without their support and the support of individual donations the Center would either have to charge for classes, have a membership fee or would not exist. We literally would not be here if not for you.
The Center will once again be offering income tax preparation services. The appointments will be starting the first part of February on Mondays. In a couple of weeks we will begin taking appointments. This is a free service provided by the Area 1 Agency on Aging. If you have not had them prepare your taxes here at the Center there will be an intake form that you will need to complete prior to your appointment. Watch the Senior News, Times-Standard and McKinleyville Press for further updates.
The Center will be closed on Monday, Jan. 21 in honor of Martin Luther King Day. We will reopen with our regularly scheduled groups and classes on Tuesday, Jan. 22nd.
The end of the month luncheon will be held on Wednesday, January 30th. For $4 Jean and the Crew are serving Meatballs, Mashed Potatoes with gravy, green beans and dessert. We start serving at noon. Please call 839-0191 to reserve your spot by 4 p.m .on Friday January 25 so we can have adequate food for everyone.
