The new McKinleyville Senior Center walking group will have an initial meeting on Monday, April 29 at 11:30 a.m. This meeting will be a chance for everyone to meet and to decide when and where the group will walk. Naomi Meyer has graciously volunteered to lead the group. Come join our newest addition to the Center list of activities.
The Low vision group meets on Monday, April 29, at 10 a.m. Doug Rose leads the group and is a fountain of knowledge and wisdom for those who are visually impaired or who have loved ones who have vision issues.
Monday, May 1st there will be on scam and fraud prevention meeting from 11 a.m. until noon. Please come join us for the presentation being offered by the Area 1 Agency on Aging. The meeting will be held in the Hewitt Room at Azalea Hall.
May 1st will be a busy morning here at the Center; the Genealogy Group will be meeting from 10 a.m. until noon. Kay will be giving a presentation about Ancestry.com. If you have a laptop you are encouraged to bring it with you (the Center has WiFi), also bring your Ancestry.com password (if you have one), or you can sign up for the free 2 week trial, or just come see what it is all about. The Genealogy Group meets the first Wednesday of each month between 9 a.m. and noon.
The plant sale is in full swing. Stop by and see what is available today. Not only do we have plants but we also have gardening books, pots and containers and other gardening items. The sale runs through Pony Express on June 1.
Speaking of Pony Express, the Center will be open Saturday, June 1 will have its annual sale, jewelry sale, and a raffle for a basket of Humboldt made items. Raffle tickets will be on sale beginning mid May. Tickets will be 50 cents each or 3/$1. All proceeds from the yard, jewelry, plants, raffle, nachos, cookies and coffee will help the center meet its financial obligations.
