I can hardly believe how quickly time is flying. In just two weeks it will be Pony Express Days.
Again this year, the McKinleyville Senior Center will be open. We will be having our annual indoor yard sale, have cookies and coffee for sale, be offering nachos for $4, be winding up the annual plant sale as well as having the boutique open.
Additionally this year we will be having a bake sale. We have some really good bakers (imagine grandma’s stuff). We will also be having a raffle for a basket of Humboldt County products. The tickets for the raffle will be 50 cents each or three for $1. The drawing will be held at 3:30 on Saturday, June 1. You don’t want to miss us while you are enjoying the other Pony Express activities at Pierson Park. We will be open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
This week’s mini meal will be spaghetti with bread for $2. The mini meal is being offered on Thursdays between 11 a.m .until we run out or 1 p.m. (whichever happens first).
A heads up; the center will be closed on Monday, May 27 in observation of Memorial Day. We will reopen on Tuesday, May 28 with our regular schedule of events.
Unfortunately, for the time being, the Center is suspending the Mah Jong group that meets on Wednesdays. The group leader has family business that needs tending. We will let you know when we will be able to resume.
Do you have a wheel chair that you borrowed from the center that you are not currently using? There are a couple of people who are in need and are waiting for one to come back. Your help is greatly appreciated.
We have a few people who would like to start playing table tennis again. The Center has the table, paddles and balls all we need is someone who is willing to act as the group leader to organize it. Give the Center a call at 820-0191 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. if you are interested.
