Books and puzzles galore – that’s what the McKinleyville Senior Center has right now. Come by and check out our selection to help fill these nice long summer days. They are a bargain at only 10 cents each.
The center was saddened to learn of the passing of John Stever. He was our bread pick-up man for the past few years and was the first face that most people saw as they walked i to Azalea Hall. He knew most people by name and always had a smile for them. He will be sorely missed. Our sympathy to his family.
I understand by the time this article comes out his funeral will have been held in Ukiah. The family stated that they will hold a memorial service for him in McKinleyville at a later date. I will update you when we have more information.
For tomorrow’s mini lunch, Fran will be serving tacos and refried beans for $2. As always, the lunch starts at 11:30 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. unless we run out of food first. Come in early so that you don’t miss out.
Can you believe it is almost July already? Just a heads up that the Center will be closed July 4 and July 5 for the holiday. There will be no Cribbage on July 6. We will reopen on Monday, July 8 with all of our regularly scheduled groups and classes. Enjoy the holiday then come back and play with us at the Center.
On Friday, June 28 at 10 a.m. the center will be holding its monthly Board Meeting. The meeting lasts about an hour. Everyone is welcome to attend. We hope to see you then.
Are you out enjoying our beautiful summer days? If not, have you considered joining our walking group? They meet Wednesday and Friday mornings at 11 a.m. at Hiller Park. It is a wonderful place to walk with its paved trail. The group walks for about an hour. They would love to have more company join them.
