Mack student arrested for assault

9:58 a.m. – A home on Stevens Way was burglarized. Report taken.

Tuesday, Feb. 26

sheriffslogbox-150x1509:29 a.m. – A resident awoke to discover a vehicle was burglarized on Second Road in McKinleyville.

10:16 a.m. – Sean Butler-Smith was drunk. He broke a window, entered a cabin at the Ocean Grove, crawled into bed and went to sleep. His slumber came to an end after he was discovered and deputies were summoned. Mr. Butler-Smith told the cops that he thought his friend was staying in the cabin. Deputies arrested Mr. Butler-Smith on suspicion of being drunk in public, vandalism and violating probation. He was provided with alternative accommodations at the Pink Palace in Eureka.

3:19 p.m. – Someone discovered a sick skunk near Dow’s Prairie and Crannel Roads. A deputy put the skunk out of its misery, or, as cops would describe it, “the animal was dispatched.”

Thursday, Feb. 28

1:58 p.m. – Deputies responded to an unwanted subject at the Ray’s Food Place. A person was inside the story playing a guitar and begging for money. No additional details were available.

3:53 p.m. – McKinleyville High student Curtis Lawson was riding his bicycle in the hallway and then allegedly assaulted a school administrator. Deputies attempted to make contact with the 18 year old the following day. Mr. Lawson hid in his attic and refused to come down. Eventually, he was arrested on suspicion of assault, battery and a probation violation. He was lodged in the county jail.
