Four candidates will vie for three seats on the McKinleyville Community Services District Board of Directors on Election Day, Nov. 5.
At the close of the filing period on Friday, Aug. 9, all three incumbents had signed up to run for office. They are David Couch, Dr. Bill Wennerholm and Dennis Mayo. They’ll face challenger George Wheeler, who occasionally attends MCSD meetings and has been a vocal critic of the district.
The MCSD oversees sewer, water, street lights, open space maintenance and parks and recreation in the unincorporated community. In recent years the MCSD board has served as the community’s de facto city council, addressing issues in town beyond its own charter.
