I wondered how I have been able to get so much accomplished lately here at the McKinleyville Senior Center. It is because I had forgotten to write my McKinleyville Press column – go figure. Well, it appears I am back on track. I wonder what I’ll forget next?
The McKinleyville Senior Center has been blessed with a multitude of hard-backed and paperback books recently. Come by and check out our great selection. We have so many books that right now we are letting them go for a nickel instead of our regular dime price.
The center also has a good supply and variety of jigsaw puzzles. Puzzles are only a dime each.
While you are here feel free to peruse the lending library of VHS movies and shows and the boutique.
The boutique is full of homemade items by seniors for anyone who wants to come in. You don’t have to be a senior to purchase from the center. Swing by and check us out, we may just have what you are looking for.
This Thursday the mini meal will be a chef salad and bread for $3. Fran starts serving at 11 a.m. so come early to be sure you will be fed.
Low vision meets on Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. You do not have to be visually impaired to attend this group. It is a great group for anyone who has a family member, friend or neighbor who is visually challenged.. Come see what tips and techniques Doug has to assist those with failing sight.
Do you have an interest that you think others might share? The Center has a couple of slow mornings and a slow afternoon with space available for new groups to meet. Call and talk with me to see what we can work out. The center is always game for new groups and classes for like-minded people to gather and enjoy on either a weekly or monthly basis.
Think that the Senior Center is only for old people? Our Center is open to anyone 50+ years old and older. Just because you are aging doesn’t mean you are old.
